Recently we blessed you with G-Funk California. If that was not much for you, than try to digest this load of dope summer tracks from all over The States, alloted in 3 volumes, made by member of philaflava forum and owner of his own blog, Drayzee, http://drayzee.blogspot.com/. Drayzee was just kind enough to allow us to use his own work and to represent it via T.R.O.Y. Blog. Thank you Drayzee for this massive work.
"Drayzee Says: It's 'Em Summer Days" is a compilation based on g-funk/gangsta/jazz/funk music. Too bad it's not summer yet, however this project will certainly give you that summer vibe. I hope this will bump in your speakers 6 summers from now. The first volume contains more "party-like" songs, the second volume will contain more gangsta/cruisin' stuff, jazz & funk, and the third one will be for you to just chill on. I also used some St. Ides commercial once per 8-9 songs, just to give you the feeling that there still is a dope radio on earth bumpin' this.

It appears that good things can happen when the UK gets blasted with the heaviest snow in 100 years. With the country coming to a complete halt, forum regular Step One had time to put together this sweet compilation of bootleg remixes and blends. Show some appreciation by leaving a comment (or a link to another remix) and he might bless us with volume 2.
Step One says "A staple of any nineties Hip Hop DJ’s collection is the shady white label remix. Information on whoever was putting these out was usually pretty thin on the ground for obvious reasons but they often held some real gems. Having rediscovered some of these recently I’ve put together a collection of some of those unofficial remixes as well as a few that I’ve found on the blogs and forums over the last few years."
01 2Pac-Old School (B.Cause Remix) http://diamondsinthedust.blogspot.com/ Usually the non-Pac fans favourite Pac track. B Cause throws some familiar samples under Pac’s reminiscing of 80s NY and gives it a nice funky vibe.
02 Big Daddy Kane-Set It Off (Daily Diggers Remix) http://www.dailydiggers.com/ Some of you might recognise this from DJ Mike Nice’s ‘Brooklyn Bullshit’ mixtape. The UK’s Daily Diggers flip the Cold Chillin classic.
03 Big Pun & Fat Joe-Twinz (Brooklyn Untouched Remix) This remix discards the original ‘Deep Cover’ beat and replaces it with another Dre & Snoop collabo, ‘The Next Episode’. Always goes down well in a club set.
04 Common-I Used To Love Her (Sir Charles Flavour Remix) http://www.myspace.com/djsircharles Common gets a G-Funk makeover as his vocals are dropped over Warren G’s ‘Nobody Does It Better’.
05 D&D All-Stars-1,2 Pass It (Bootleg Remix) A DJ Fashion remix? All signs point to yes.
06 Erick Sermon-Bomdigi (Street Jam Bootleg Remix) The beat from En Vogue’s ‘Hold On’ gives this E Double solo joint some extra bump.
07 Fat Joe & Doo Wop-Boriquas On The Set (DJ Dough & Porge One Remix) http://www.myspace.com/djdoughhiphop The UK’s Dough & Porge One always had some special remixes on their CDs. This one is taken from their ‘Heads Aint Ready’ mix which is well worth seeking out.
08 Method Man & Redman-How High (Bootleg Remix) The acapella of this track was definitely a favourite amongst producers, probably due to the amount of quotable lines from Red & Meth at their peak. This version uses the ‘Human Nature’ melody over EPMD's ‘You’re A Customer’ beat.
09 Mobb Deep-Hell On Earth (Paul Miles Remix) Another UK remix, this time by Birmingham DJ Paul Miles (aka Pat Bateman).
10 Nas-It Aint Hard To Tell (DJ Day Remix) http://likeathrottle.blogspot.com/ (this also came out on vinyl) This track has been remixed to death but this has to be the best of the unofficial ones. Quality production from DJ Day out of California.
11 The Pharcyde-Passin Me By (WAR! [What-A-Remix]) A Jazzy Jim remix.
12 Tim Dog & KRS-One-I Get Wrecked (Gamm/Samoo Remix) http://diamondsinthedust.blogspot.com/ I don't have any info on this one but I’m pretty sure I copped it at B.Cause’s blog.
This in one of my favorite mash-up/blend/remix projects from 2009. You're all probably like, WTF? But seriously, give it a chance. It's brilliant. This is only one of a few things from last year that's still in the rotation and if he'd press up a physical disc, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
Step 1: Watch the trailer
Step 2: Visit STARS & STRIPES and go to "download" (instrumentals are also available for those who need everything)
01 Bombs Over Orchids (The White Stripes + Outkast) 02 Icky Says (The White Stripes + Pharoahe Monch) 03 Ante Up Every Way (The White Stripes + M.O.P.) 04 Turn It Up (The White Stripes + Kanye West) 05 Ms. Doorbell (The White Stripes + Mos Def) 06 Cash Run (The White Stripes + Notorious B.I.G. & 2Pac) 07 Got Yourself a Cannon (The White Stripes + Jay-Z) 08 Jolene's Ether (The White Stripes + Nas) 09 One More Corner (The White Stripes + Common) 10 Dangerous Love (The White Stripes + Busta Rhymes) 11 Fucking Apples (The White Stripes + Eminem) 12 Tha Countdown Blues (The White Stripes + Redman) 13 Stars & Stripes (The White Stripes + Adrian Champion & Brian Jacobs)
Step 3: Go to his BLOG and you can pick up the bonus track
14 Bound to Pass Me By (The White Stripes + The Pharcyde)
George and Gwen put out "The Rub" back in 1975, on the album "Together". It still sounds perfectly fresh today! Listen as the funk makes you bop your head...
George and Gwen Mc Crae - THE RUB
How many producers out there have heard this and thought, "shit, I shoulda flipped it".
Well, it's well known that no one owns no loops, so, go ahead and compete with the best:
Once I got my hands on the Method Man mix, I discovered there was one for The Funk Doctor Spock. Sold. Again with this Mister Cee mix, nothing too fancy, nothing too special, one good freestyle, several remixes and one live track. But the real catch on this disc are the two unreleased tracks. Ten years later (or so), I believe this is the only place you can find them.
01 Redman-Freestyle (Live At Russel Simmons' Phat Jam)
02 EPMD-Hardcore feat. Redman
03 EPMD-Headbanger feat. K-Solo & Redman
04 Redman-Blow Your Mind
05 Redman-Time 4 Sum Akshun (Original & Remix)
06 Redman-Tonight's Tha Night (Original & Remix)
07 Redman-Redman Meets Reggie Noble
08 Redman-How To Roll A Blunt
09 Redman-I'm Getting Blunted (Unreleased)
10 Redman-A Day Of Soopaman Lover
11 Erick Sermon-Swing Over Here feat. Keith Murray & Redman
21 Redman & Method Man-Freestyle (Live On Angie Martinez's Radio Show, Hot 97, NY)
22 Montell Jordan-Somethin' 4 Da Honeyz (Remix) feat. Redman
23 Boyz II Men-Vibin' (Remix) feat. Erick Sermon, Keith Murray, Redman & 2 To Da Head
24 Aaron Hall-Curiousity (Remix) feat. Redman
My original cover was in a sorry state, so I scanned it in, cleaned it up and threw in all new type exactly the same as the original. Coming soon will be “The Best Of The Notorious B.I.G.” and “The Best Of Mobb Deep” in the series.
Thun: Okay, T.R.O.Y. Nation, get a load of this shit. Vibe.com, that renowned purveyor of controversial rankings, is running an NCAA-styled tournament media stunt titled "The Best Rapper Ever." In the video you see embedded above, sorta famous but not especially popular one-hit-blunder Joe Budden expressed extreme disapproval. Being the self-absorbed half-wit that we all know him to be, he takes his #32 ranking within his bracket as some kind of insult and goes on a ten minute rant which culminates in the claim that he is a better rapper than the majority of those ranked in the entire tournament. Needless to say, I'm not co-signing this, and his twittered caveat about considering how these artists would fare on the mic "now" is not convincing in the least.Philaflava: Is this the guy who recently took the L from Saigon or the one who blamed Def Jam on his lack of success due to the way his name (Buddens) was marketed, because sometimes I confuse the two.
Thun: I dunno but I'm pretty sure this is the guy whose voice was actually improved by developing polyps in his throat. Now he's on YouTube accusing Vibe of not knowing hip hop history or the craft of emceeing in the same breath he claims to have never heard of Cowboy from the Furious Five. That's the thing about self-serving, heavy-handed agendas - they make you look dumb.
Philaflava: In any event, I think he is looking at this Vibe bracket all wrong. Sure there are some weak opponents and sure there are some questionable rankings, but to imply he's better than "half" of the list (64 rappers) is just asinine. He's practically saying he's better than Puba, AZ, MF Doom, Black Thought and Method Man just in that 10 minute clip.
Thun: Puba? Really? Budden - you have a song better than "Wake Up?" A party classic better than "360"? A club song more memorable than "I Like It"? Say what say what? AZ? You can flow better than his verse on "Life's A Bitch?" It must take incredible willpower to NEVER exercise that option, dun!
Philaflava: The difference is Budden has two albums to his name, both were nothing to write home about while the others catalogs run circles around him.
Thun: Budden has two albums out? Not mixtapes ... not Imeem play lists ... not vidoes of his wife and kids doing household chores ... but albums? Was this news made available beyond his first cousins and weed connect?
Philaflava: Unfortunately, Budden is gonna go out like Stephen F. Austin of this tournament, but hey, there is always the NIT of Rap tournaments to look forward to. Either way, Joe should check himself if thinks he's better than half that list.
Thun: This video is maddening. Now, don't get me wrong - any respectable rapper should be offended if they are ranked lower than Lil' Bow Wow and MC Hammer. But that's where Budden's legitimate grievances end. But, no. Instead of being thankful he was even acknowledged at all, he passively aggressively mutters names on the list and makes faces at the camera, implying but not directly stating that he feels that he is a superior rapper to people like Melle Mel and Chubb Rock, who tour and rock guest appearances to this day. All this delivered with the level of maturity and poise commonly associated with a flustered second grader who was picked last for the kickball team.
Philaflava: We got your back Quincy J. Oh , and Blackout 2 is out there now - the plot thickens.
Thun: To all aspiring young rappers who are witnessing such lunacy and don't know what to make of it: learn from this fiasco. Shit-eating smugness is not flow. Asshole-ishness is not lyricism. Twitter is not a respected discography. Tricking on a video model is not creating memorable lyrics. Tattoos are not genre-changing albums. Challenging rappers who paved the way for you and have no need whatsoever to even acknowledge your punk ass to some imaginary war of hackneyed sports punchlines is not a good look.
Originally I bought this one on cassette. But I couldn't resist buying it a second time, on cd. Nothing too fancy, nothing too special, a couple of nice freestyles, remixes and a classic live track, but overall it's a great mix of all those Johnny Blaze tracks that I used to know and love.
01 Wu-Tang Clan-Method Man (Live At The Palladium)
02 Wu-Tang Clan-Protect Ya Neck
03 Wu-Tang Clan-Da Mystery Of Chessboxin'
04 Wu-Tang Clan-Shame On A Nigga
05 Wu-Tang Clan-Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothing To F' Wit
My cover was kind of badly beaten, so I scanned it in, cleaned it up and threw in all new type exactly the same as the original. Coming very soon will be “The Best Of Redman” and “The Best Of Notorious B.I.G.” in the series.
Ahhh... the summer of 1996. My first summer in Chicago and one of the first things I purchased. The guy at the record shop (The Beat Parlor) wouldn't let me leave the store without buying it. It came packaged in a jewel case, no cover, no notes, no nothing but shrink wrap.
While this cd is full of great freestyles, some of my favorites are the Mad Lion one and the beginning of the Channel Live track (tracks 25 and 26). Scan of cd included. And yes, that is blue paint over Doo Wop's contact number. It actually came like that.
And since it is Gang Starr month 2009, there is a nice Guru freestyle in there.

Here's volume 4 of the Hot 97 Freestyle AllStars vinyl series. This is probably the release with the least rare freestyles since most of the ones included were featured on Funkmaster Flex "60 Minutes of Funk Vol.1". But for example, you get the full session of the Redman & Keith Murray freestyle which is 15 min. long while it was cut short to 4 min. in the Funk Flex mixtape. The other exclusive freestyles are from Da Bush Babees, Jay-Z, and Krs-One.
About 3 weeks ago, I posted a 12" containing a few Hot 97 radio freestyles from the likes of Nas, Cormega, ATCQ, Wu-Tang, and Heltah Skeltah. It was part of a series of vinyls called Freestyle AllStars released on Wild Style Records. I only owned volume 2 of the series .
After seeing a comment from dirt_dog, he informed me that he had a few of those other volumes. He immediately ripped all the volumes so that it could be shared to everyone. Below you will find all the artists involved on the first installment.
A1. Krs-One - Freestyle #1 A2. Pudgee - Freestyle #1 A3. Sadat X - Freestyle A4. La The Darkman - Freestyle B1. Pete Rock & INI - Freestyle B2. Pudgee - Freestyle #2 B3. Method Man & Redman - Freestyle B4. Krs-One - Freestyle #2 B5. Busta Rhymes & Rampage - Freestyle
Ripped exclusively by dirt_dog for The T.R.O.Y. Blog
I'm sure everybody has seen this classic freestyle session at least once. The freestyle was cut into two parts. The first part had Rakim, Krs One, Erick Sermon, Chubb Rock, and MC Serch. After the commercial, they came back with Redman, Method Man, Large Pro, Special Ed, and Craig Mack. You can also see Rampage the Last Boy Scout in the crowd; I don't know why he didn't appear on the freestyle. Dj Skribble was on the turntables. They rhymed over the instrumentals of It's My Thing, Mad Izm, and Real Hip Hop(Pete Rock Remix). I've always loved it when Erick Sermon is rapping and the beat switches to "Real Hip Hop".
Well maybe not children but we're definitely for the readers (you). DJ Hudson sent us his mix and we thought it only made sense to pass it on. Check it out and remember we do T.R.O.Y. for all of you. You give us the motivation to bring the freshness daily (at least 4x). If you have something you'd like to share, hit us up because we're always looking to spread love.
